Went for my birthday, it was absolutely delightful. We took our dog with us and stayed in the Sacre Coeur room. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous with so many little details. The staff were so lovely and welcoming. We are already discussing when we will go back for our next stay 🤍

A beautiful hotel which is a world away from the norm. Full of antiquities and objet d'art, perfectly placed throughout the hotel with beautiful attention to detail. Each room is creatively themed to a particular style. With the option of breakfast being brought to the door of your room with a quaint vintage flair with beautiful glass bottles, saucers and tea cups. If you want a memorable hotel experience I would highly recommend La Rosa, you will not be disappointed.

A wonderful, quirky hotel with great service. It is not your normal bland hotel. It is full of character and the decor is amazing. It's more than a place to stay, it is an experience.
The rooms are decorated around different themes with lots of oddments bringing the character. Breakfast is a continental bag with the essentials which surpringly does you for the morning. The cocktails in the cocktail lounge is brilliant.
Well worth the visit. P.s. dogs are more than welcome.
Room Little Red is just for one person though. If there are two of you then you will need a bigger room.

Quirky, boutiquey little place, managed by the amazing Emily, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Excellent VFM.

An amazing stay with great service, food and room! I'd highly recommend the Little Red room for solo travellers, it's the perfect size. Definitely coming back in the future.
I was a bit worried about parking but there were lots of options only a minutes walk away so don't be put off, it's well worth the location.

Didn’t stay but came in to use the tearoom for a few hours for work and was welcomed by the softest dog John who loves a belly rub! Interior is amazing and service was so welcoming, allowed us to get on with work for the day while it rained, would have loved to have stayed if it wasn’t for the campervan! see ya soon La Rosa

My partner and I stayed here in the little red room ..it was a lovely experience and the staff were very helpful and accommodating..no veiw from this room but weren't a problem .the only thing is there's not alot off room for clothes or to dry hair (maybe that's why it called the little red room😁)..the continental breakfast was lovely and straight on time in the morning s ..the tea room also quirky and welcomeing..we would stay here again but book a bigger room with a veiw ..😊

We came in January and could not recommend this place enough. Everything was perfect; amazingly comfy beds, super clean, great interior design and top-notch customer service. The views from the Lewis room are perhaps the best in England. They catered to our vegan breakfast requests and did some banging cocktails too. Definitely a
5/5 hotel.

Such a fabulous find. A one off. Great location and views (if you get a room with one). Interesting building and interior that’s hard to describe - like being on a film set. I love that there are no TVs and only a bath. The service was also great with friendly helpful staff. I spent 3 nights searching for a hotel online in Whitby before stumbling across it and booking, and I’m so glad I did. I’d go back anytime. So many hotel are full and boring - La Rosa is not.

We stayed in the Sacre Couer room which has the sea view and Abbey view. It was just perfect, really comfortable bed, incredible boudoir themed room and the views were just amazing. The staff and service are first class and they made us feel so welcome. The continental breakfast in the morning is just great with fresh juice, rolls, eggs and pastries. A nice selection of beers and soft drinks in the bar with most excellent cocktails too. It was my girlfriends birthday and they went the extra mile to give a little card and gift. It’s a great location as it’s a very short walk to the lighthouse and the sea front. Once at the sea front you’re about a 10 minute walk across the bridge to the 199 steps which takes you up to the Abbey. The whole hotel is just Beautiful. We will definitely come again. Thank you team La Rosa. x

Fantastic hotel. Very eclectic. Definitely be back.
Well we did go back and again we weren't disappointed. We stayed the Little Red Room this time. This room as with the Gypsy Room is decorated beautifully. Each antique fits the theme of the room.
Visiting La Rosa is a treat and feels like home from home.
Helen and her amazing team looked after us and were so helpful with my partner who is blind.

La Rosa Hotel is not your normal looking Hotel you expect to look like , although we enjoyed our stay , the hosts were friendly and helpful, the stair carpet leading to the 1st floor has seen better days as it was tatty and torn , noticeable on the way up. Our room was the Saloon Room which was very busy with wall hangings which you also got alot of free dust with your stay too. The cushion covers needed a damn good wash as well . No shower in that particular room but did have a deep steel bath no TV but they do have WiFi if needed . Overall 6/10 , a deep clean needed and a new stair carpet also needed. We were charged £75.00 each per night for 2 nights which for that price was over priced for me after a disappointing stay with no breakfast - they charged a tenner extra for that which wasn't a cooked full English

We spent 2 nights here. Absolute stunning view of the Abbey from our room. There was too much theme for our taste, but if that's your thing, this is your place. Be warned that not all rooms have showers and no TV in our room either. But close to everything and again, that view.

We were moved here from the Royal as the room for us was water damaged. Room was very pleasant and themed.
For people who like quiet and comfortable with great views this is great

Just aren't enough words to describe our amazing stay. Everthing was perfect. The hotel is a collage of eclectic spectacular and beautiful things. Please just take a moment to look at the pictures and you will see why. This for us will be the only place to stop when staying in Whitby, see you soon La Rosa! 💛

Just love this hotel. There have been some changes since Helen took over. I do miss the violet cream chocolates in the rooms. However, the switch to a refillable glass bottle for la rosa bespoke bubble bath is genius. We stayed in the kitch Catholic room, sacre cour, which is my favourite summer room because you have the view and a little table to sit at in the window plus the bed is the comfiest in the place. Plus, it always seems to be the last of the big front rooms to go. I'm sure that last time i stayed, there was a teapot on the tea tray, which makes brewing tea much easier. I'm sure if I'd asked, I'd have got one brought up, though. I do love this room because it's sunny and seems spacious with plenty of light, and being on the second floor is quieter, but i think it could do with a bit of a revamp? Some comfy chairs for the window and maybe a new theme? Victorian kitch with lots of violet accessories?
The bathroom definitely needs a new sink, though .
We'll definitely be back , we love it so much

Wow. Just wow. My partner treated me for my birthday and he picked this gem of a place. Each room is themed from Stoker to Caravan. We stayed in the Arabesque which contained a massive 4 poster bed , bath and gorgeous furniture . Downstairs had a fantastic tea room and library area laden with antiques and well there is a lot of taxidermy in this place.
The bar was great and all the cocktails were unique and amazing although one unsavoury character who eventually left in a strop because they didn't make Mai Tais. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful it was great to get breakfast in bed! Fab location too.. overall I love this place!

We loved our stay here and would definitely go back. This hotel is different, it's quirky, it's interesting and it's fun. The hostess, Helen, could not have been any friendlier or more helpful and she gave us great recommendations for places to eat and drink. Thank goodness for all the stairs and hills in beautiful Whitby, we really needed to walk off the excess. Some rooms have a sea view and what a view it is from the hotel's elevated position. Helen's welcome was outdone only by that of her gorgeous dog, John.
Don't expect corporate or staid, this hotel is anything but, it is an experience to be savoured and remembered.

Another fabulous stay at this icon of quirkyness. We stayed in Arabesque this time, with the tallest 4 poster bed I've ever tried to climb onto! Luckily they have a stool in the room which helps. Decor suitably arabesque.
Staff lovely as per usual: a filling and scrumptious continental breakfast delivered to your room (veggie and vegan and gluten free options available): great cocktails in the lounge. Would stay here again and again and again!
Thank you for being La Rosa!

Quirky and weird but absolutely wonderful! The hosts are so friendly, we were made to feel like a member of the family! We took our dog with us and he was treated like a king. ☺️ Quiz night in the basement was so much fun. Will definitely be going to stay at La Rosa again in the future. Thank you so much, Helen, Robert, John the dog and all staff.
